Eagle Light

You must have X11 installed for Eagle Light

Check in /Applications/Utilities/ if there's an application called X11, otherwise you can download X11 here

Install Eagle

Open a terminal window (/Applications/Utiliies/Terminal)
cd to the place where you downloaded eagle
tar xf eagle-m11-ger-4.16r2.tar
sudo eagle-m11-ger-4.16r2/install
Start X11
sudo eagle
Select the Freeware license
Close Eagle

The Eagle application gets installed into /Applications/EAGLE-X11/bin/eagle. You can drag it into the Dock if you want...

Gnusb Firmware - The AVR Toolchain

Wait, there's an installer package now !

Download the avr toolchain for PowerPC or for Intel Macs

Open a terminal window

cd Desktop

mkdir /usr/local

sudo cp -r avr/ /usr/local/avr

Open the invisible profile file in the nano text editor

nano ~/.profile

paste the following line

export PATH=$PATH:/usr/local/avr/bin

type Ctrl - o and the Enter to save the file

type Ctrl - x to quit nano

close the terminal window
